From November 5 to 8, Madrid hosted the International Trade Fair for Solutions in the Electrical and Electronics Industry, MATELEC 2024, at IFEMA.

This benchmark event focused on promoting digitalization, innovation, and sustainability in the sector, providing an ideal space to expand networks and gain firsthand insight into the latest developments in the global electrical and electronics industry. This year, with the participation of over 500 companies from countries such as Austria, Belgium, China, South Korea, Germany, France, Italy, and the United States, the fair highlighted its role as a meeting point and knowledge platform for the industry.
Ibercomp SA in Pavilion 4: Innovation in Home Automation and Modbus Solutions
Among the standout exhibitors, Ibercomp SA made its mark in Pavilion 4, stand 4C07, where it showcased its latest developments in hotel home automation. With an innovative approach to energy savings and comfort, Ibercomp presented an advanced graphical console, capacitive touch buttons with haptic feedback, and an embedded device designed to manage web applications for home automation control—perfect for integrated hotel systems.

Ibercomp took advantage of the event to launch a new business line focused on plastic enclosures for electronics. Designed by electronic engineers for electronic engineers, these enclosures aim to balance cost and quality, proudly manufactured in Spain.
It also offered the possibility of undertaking custom projects, particularly in tailored Modbus solutions, clearly positioning itself as a partner for new ideas and developments.

Adoption of Modbus Solutions by J. Borrell
The reliability and innovation of Ibercomp’s Modbus solutions have attracted the interest of renowned companies, such as J. Borrell, a leader in almond and dried fruit processing with a branch in the United States. This collaboration highlights the trust in the quality and adaptability of Ibercomp’s developments, strengthening its presence in industrial automation and the global market.

Co-exhibitors and Interactive Demonstrations
Electronic Circuit Design, a co-exhibitor alongside Ibercomp, impressed visitors with its patented omnidirectional anemometer, which has no mechanical parts, designed to prevent wear and dirt accumulation. A key application for this anemometer includes air ducts or critical installations such as wind turbines and cranes.

Electronic Circuit Design also presented a universal two-axis solar tracker controller, which integrates LoRa communication, an anemometer, compass, and XYZ accelerometer. This solution, which facilitates precise control of solar panels, was very well received by companies in the sector, standing out for its accuracy and integration capabilities in advanced solar installations. The anemometer demonstration included turbines generating “wind” gusts of up to 200 km/h, controlled via an interactive touchscreen monitor, allowing attendees to observe the device’s capabilities in real time.
European Quality vs. Strong Asian Presence
With over 500 exhibitors, MATELEC 2024 had a strong international representation, including numerous participants from Asia, particularly China. This presence provided attendees the opportunity to compare global market offerings, highlighting a clear quality difference between European and Chinese products. European products stood out for their design, reliability, and durability, reinforcing the value proposition of companies like Ibercomp in offering high-quality solutions tailored to the needs of the European market.

This year, MATELEC 2024 placed special emphasis on knowledge and training, organizing several sessions focused on innovation and practical solutions for distribution and construction. Among the topics discussed were the evolution of smart homes, aerothermal energy, and the business opportunities offered by Energy Savings Certificates (CAE). Additionally, the Seventeenth Edition of the Young Installers Competition brought together more than 41 participants from across Spain, competing for the title of Best New Installer, an initiative aimed at fostering emerging talent in the sector.
